Founding and Early Days (1970s)

Khajuraho Travels was started around 50 years ago by Shri D.P. Agarwal .
His goal was to make travel easier for people going from Jhansi to Khajuraho – a region with poor infrastructure at the time.
In the 1970 s, there were no proper bridges , and roads were narrow and rough.
He started small, with one bus that could carry 20 passengers
As demand grew, he built a second, larger bus that could carry over 50 people.
Over the next 30 years, his hard work expanded the business to a fleet of over 50 buses, all operated as part of his family-owned company.

Transition to the Next Generation – Dr. A.K. Agarwal

After Shri D.P. Agarwal passed away, his son, Dr. A.K. Agarwal , took over the business.
By this time, the market had changed. Many new travel companies had entered the region, and competition increased sharply.
To stay competitive, Dr. A.K. Agarwal expanded the business beyond Jhansi and Khajuraho, into multiple states and regions.
However, the private bus industry faced many challenges

Third Generation – Mrs. Nalini Agarwal

After her husband’s death, Mrs. Nalini Agarwal took over managing the business.
But she faced even more challenges
Fierce competition from new and well-funded travel companies
Limited personal experience in running a travel business

These factors caused the company to continue losing money.
Like her husband, she also had to cut back the size of the business by over 50% to control the losses.
